Vito Politano
Vito teaches group and individual classes, provides Thai yoga bodywork, and also trains yoga teachers. He is grateful and inspired to share these powerful healing practices.
Not born a yogi, it took a neck injury in 2004 to lead him to the mat. With a debilitating fear of public speaking, Vito began teaching with great trepidation in 2007 while working in non-profit management, and serving as a Baptiste Yoga assistant. The opportunity to share the benefits of these practices inspired him to take the leap into teaching.
Vito teaches a mindful and challenging alignment-based class with a strong connection to breath. He also teaches Yoga Wall/Ropes, and "Stretch Therapy" classes, incorporating myofascial release using massage balls. His care and attention to safety and therapeutics enable students to open body, heart, and mind in a deep and sustainable way.
Strongly committed to self-development, Vito informs his practice through regular study and training of Yoga, philosophy, anatomy, physiology, and bodywork. He is trained at the 500 hr level with Natasha Rizopoulos and Barbara Benagh through Down Under Yoga. Vito’s 200 hour trainings include study with Natasha Rizopoulos in the YogaWorks method, and assisting David Magone in the Pranavayu method. Additional trainings include Judith Hanson Lasater (Alignment/Physiology,Restorative and Low Back and SI), Tias Little (Prajna Yoga YTT sessions), Elise Browning Miller (Yoga for Scoliosis), Ana Forrest (Teacher Intensive), Seane Corn (Vinyasa Training), and Marc St. Pierre (Anusara Immersion I). Vito has additional Anatomy, Physiology, and Therapeutics trainings with Julie Gudmestad, Jill Miller and Team ((RX series, Yofga Tune-up/Roll Model Method), Ellen Heed, Roger Cole, Santosh Karmacharya, Doug Keller and Tom Meyers.
Since his first training with Shai Plonski through the Lotus Palm School in 2010, Vito has been a regular practitioner of Thai bodywork. He loves this opportunity to provide a deeper level of connection and healing. He began studying CranioSacral Therapy with Kate Peck, and has completed Reiki ! and is scheduled for Reiki 2 with Susan Coffey.
Vito is very excited to continue offering his own Yoga Teacher Training in partnership with well-respected friend and teacher Larisa Forman through The Yoga Loft of Marblehead.
Vito was named lululemon Ambassador for the Boston Prudential store in 2012.
Classes with Vito
Vito’s classes are very focused on alignment as inspired by his trainings in anatomy/physiology, therapeutics and the YogaWorks methods. YogaWorks style classes balance detailed instruction, alignment with breath, fluid movement and thoughtful sequencing. While his Power classes have increased temperature and intensity, both his Power and Vinyasa classes are taught with great precision and care.
