The Yoga Loft Storybook: Alexa Weislein

Why/When/Where did you start practicing yoga?

I started practicing yoga for the first time at The Loft when I moved back to Marblehead in 2020. My autoimmune disease was taking a turn for the worst and after running out of medical options, I decided to try a holistic path before a last resort surgery. I completely changed my diet, turned to herbs and supplements, and started low impact exercise (yoga). The results were incredible in the way I was feeling as well as my test results. I immediately signed up for a membership and have been going religiously since.

How has yoga changed/influenced your life?

The studio has been such a healing place for me; body, mind and soul. Although the main impact being health related, I’ve met some amazing new friends, shared lots of laughs and even some cries. In general, yoga has really helped me adopt a more “everything thats meant to be, will be” attitude. I’m more patient (with myself and others), less stressed and tend to go with the flow.

What keeps you busy outside of the studio?

I work at French + Italian and do freelance styling in town. If you ever need a wardrobe refresh or want to start consigning old pieces let me know! When I’m not working, I’m often swimming at Browns Island, gardening and spending time with loved ones.

What do you hope to accomplish in your new role at The Yoga Loft?

I hope to be there for other students the way the studio was there for me when I needed it. I’d really love to build up and expand our Yoga Loft community!
