Teacher Spotlight : Christina Deluca
What was your first yoga experience?
My first experience with yoga was with an old high school friend. We had reconnected in our 20s and I begged her to come to yoga with me at a Studio in Newton, MA. It was a Hot Power Vinyasa class. This was over 10 years ago now, but all I can remember is being very confused about how to do the poses correctly, being worried I was doing everything wrong, and being so hot and sweaty! After class I felt amazing and knew I would be back!
What made you become a yoga teacher?
I had fallen in love with everything Yoga and wanted to expand my knowledge of Yoga. I went back and forth for a few months on signing up for a 200hr teacher training. I decided that it was now or never and that I wanted to share what I had discovered on my mat with others.
What is your favorite pose and why?
My favorite pose is supported fish. I feel so open yet soft in it at the same time. This was especially my favorite when I was pregnant!
Where do you draw inspiration from for your classes?
My inspiration for my classes comes from my own yoga practice, fellow yoga teachers and my day to day life. Every time I step on my mat, if it’s either a home practice or in studio there is something I learn or something I rediscover that may of grew distant from. Practicing yoga has also helped me be more in the present moment off my mat. During my busy days with my daughters there will be a certain moment that stops me in my tracks and yoga had made me be still and savor it. Sometimes just a few seconds like that will draw inspiration I want to share with my students.
What is something you enjoy outside of Yoga?
Outside of yoga I enjoy spending time with my husband, two daughters and two Boston terriers. Other hobbies I enjoy other than yoga is running and playing guitar.
