Sarah Flynn McCormack

Sarah has been in the fitness industry for over thirty years and holds numerous certifications. She started as an aerobics instructor and personal trainer, and eventually found yoga when her body started talking back. Her first yoga class was at a Bikram studio and at that time she believed that if it wasn’t hard and hot it wasn’t worth it. After earning her Yoga Fit certification and participating in several workshops including Rolf Gates, Baron Baptists, Todd Norman, John Friend, Shiva Rea, Beryl Bender Birch, and David Mangone to name a few, she decided to do her 200-hour training with Liz O’Shea Sullivan at Yoga Bodhi, which is a more traditional Iyengar style training.

Sarah’s practice has evolved over the years. While she still enjoys powering up her class, she deeply values the importance of slowing the practice down to understand alignment and breath, avoid injuries, and to get the most out of her practice. She likes to incorporate her life experiences in class and uses flow and music to engage students on their own journey. Understanding that all our practices are unique, Sarah strives to support each of her students’ practices - whether that is in the middle of the harbor doing paddle yoga or in a studio, she is committed to helping each student find their comfort zone.

Sarah and her husband, Dave, have four children and a very large extended family with whom she spends a lot of time with. She also loves teaching all ages from 101-year-old dance participants at Zumba to 3-year-old yoginis. Sarah believes that life is too short to take yourself too seriously!
