What's in Yin Yoga?
Time to settle the body into the natural alignment of your body.
Time to allow the connective tissues, ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body beyond your muscles, to lengthen and stretch.
Time to bring awareness to the subtle energies inside of you.
Time even to lend health to your adrenal, lymphatic and internal organ systems.
There is also Time to let the mind be lead thru meditation AND to let the mind wander into deeper unguided contemplations.
Time to notice where our thoughts may take us. Time to notice how space and healing can open up within our physical bodies and in our hearts.
When we begin to find this Time and Space on the mat, we begin to find Time and Space OFF of our mats.
Don’t confuse this with restorative yoga!
Though Yin Yoga can and does have restorative effects, it can also be quite challenging...if you so choose.
Poses are held in relative stillness for 3-5 minutes each side, with little or no propping, save for the support of your bone system.
You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. Even after just one class, you will realize that Yin Yoga works wherever you need it to work.
Yin Yoga is suitable for just about all levels of students -- extreme athletes to dog walkers, computer geeks to baristas, teens to grandpas, Type A-Z's. It's a fantastic compliment to everything else you do in your life, and helps undo all that you and your life does TO your body, bringing new found mental peace and physical ease going forward.
Yup, pretty boring stuff. :)
